Wanda, the title character of the narrative poem from 1840 by the Polish poet Cyprian Kamil Norwid (1821-1883)
Norwid was a poet, playwright, painter and sculptor.
He was born in the Masovian village of Laskowo-Głuchy near Warsaw.
One of his maternal ancestors was the Polish King Jan III Sobieski.
Norwid belongs to the second generation of romantics. He wrote many excellent poems, incl. "Chopin's Piano", "Moja piosnka [II]" and "Bem's mourning-rhapsody".
